Moisture Measurements

Accurately finding and measuring water damage is a bigger problem than you may think. What most people don’t realise is like trying to measure a balloon full of air. When you heat it up it measures bigger, when you cool it down it gets smaller.

Using sensitive measurement equipment takes years of experience to learn to do properly and there are always new technologies becoming available to measure moisture in different ways. Just like measuring the balloon your not measuring how much air is in the baloon you are measuring a quality of the baloon which is related to how much air is in it! So more measurement tools means more data points which means more accurate readings which can then be interpreted to work out how much air is in the balloon or in this case how much water is left in the wall.

To make matters worse, Perth’s building construction is incredibly unique so moisture detection equipment needs to be carefully selected and carefully used otherwise results false positive and false negatives create massive issues. Quality moisture measurement is vitally important but of equal importance is the knowledge and the experience of the of the person using it.

We obsess over these details and compare readings so if there is even the slightest amount of doubt in a reading we will perform several types of readings in order to establish where we are at in the drying process. We also spare no expense when it comes to moisture meter’s as each excels at in different use cases and the price of messing up a job is our reputation which we is something we cant buy back no matter how much we spend.

This obsession to details means your always getting the most accurate readings which is vitally important to the success of any restoration project. The cost of getting it wrong may mean there could be mould growth and the heart ache of having to rebuild something which as only recently just been rebuilt.

In the majority of cases we can return even the most difficult of materials such as your wet hardwood flooring and precious high value contents to their pre-loss condition with this care and attention to detail at the forefront of our minds.
